Sydvaranger Drift AS and Bjørnevatn Idrettslag (BIL) have entered into a cooperation agreement that will contribute to the continued development of the club. The agreement, signed on Thursday, February 20th 2025, provides crucial support to Bjørnevatn IL's women's and men's teams, and they will have the Sydvaranger's logo set to feature on the team uniforms in the upcoming seasons. Special focus will be placed on the women's soccer team, which competes in the 2nd division.

"We are impressed that Bjørnevatn IL has managed to establish a women's team from Sør-Varanger at this level. It demonstrates the tremendous engagement and effort invested in the local community," says Christer Lindquist, CEO of Sydvaranger.

He also emphasizes the importance of sports and recreational activities for Sør-Varanger. "An active local community is essential for future recruitment, both to the sports sector and the business world. When we resume mining operations, we will need skilled workers, and we believe a vibrant sports environment will make the region even more attractive," Lindquist states.

Bjørnevatn IL views the agreement as valuable support for its ongoing efforts and is pleased with the collaboration with Sydvaranger. Together, they contribute to strengthening sports in Sør-Varanger and creating an inclusive and active environment for both current and future generations.
